My birthdays in Brooklyn have been some of my favorite memories because they are always elaborate affairs, filled with people I love in my home, eating my food and enjoying each other.
One of my apartments in Brooklyn had a wonderful rooftop. The day after I moved in was my birthday, and not one to let a move deter me (since moving is such a regular occurrence with me), I went all out. It was an exceptionally spectacular summer day with a clear blue sky. I made my Korean BBQ, and we installed a tarp for shade over half of the roof. I had a kiddie pool, which we filled with water, hula hoops and we dragged all of my furniture upstairs. I even set up a full bar. It was completely perfect.
I got rid of the hose long ago but I just found the extension cord at the bottom of my tool box. Now when I find objects to release it’s like a treasure, because I have given so many items away I am finding it more and more arduous to find objects to release.
So on Day 60 of my 365 Release I am releasing an obscene length of extension cord, which I have kept because I forgot I was even carting it around. May the recipient do something just as awesome with it.
[I created the 365 Release Project to practice non-attachment, letting go and change by giving away 1 thing a day for 1 year. The background, vision and guidelines to the 365 RELEASE project are here. The running list of everything I have released is here.]
