The U.S., UK, and countries in Europe using the language of “developed” vs “developing” or “undeveloped” to separate themselves continues histories of colonization and similar language around “civilized” vs “uncivilized” and “savage.”

White supremacy and imperialist capitalism are not markers of success. They are indicators of oppressors and oppression. Using GDP as an indicator of “developed” is inherently tied to colonialism.

Being a country with the highest investments in incarceration, the military, enforcement, and punishment does not make it developed, it makes it the most oppressive.

A country that enforces its ego by claiming superiority over other countries, contains governments and individuals that do the same to each other internally. This is devastating, not developed.
