Part of our journey of extracting ourselves from the entanglement<\/strong> of these platforms is to stop needing to depend on them. And that’s their purpose, to create dependency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Spotify goes away, your music goes away. That music you paid for isn’t yours. Often, when you buy a movie to \u201cown\u201d on a platform, it isn’t really yours because you can’t view it off that platform. And sometimes even when you buy a digital book, you can only view it on that platform. All of these platforms are robbing the creators, the artists, and you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, with many social media platforms, your content is housed and owned by these platforms. They have intentionally created a dependency and entanglement,<\/strong> so it’s difficult for us to extract ourselves. It’s hard for us to move. It’s hard for us to stay connected, if we want to leave the platform. In Korean, there’s a word called “\uc5bd\ud788\ub2e4,” which means tangle or entanglement. We want a de-\uc5bd\ud600. We want to disentangle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider buying that music, movie, or book through a method so you can keep it with yourself whether digitally or physically, so that file is on your drive<\/strong> or that item is on your shelf<\/strong>. For instance, instead of that subscription to Spotify every month, you can buy an entire album and own it forever. Yes, it is a single album, but what an album it will be. Forever. And ultimately, that is much better for supporting the musicians, actors, writers, and creators. You\u2019ll be moving away from the entanglement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These platforms have created a dependency so it’s hard for us to disentangle ourselves, but we can do it. I believe in us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will help us to pack our digital bags<\/strong>. Furthermore, I know many people may have forgotten or may have never been taught how to acquire a book, music, or movie that you can keep, especially digitally. I’m here for that too. De-\uc5bd\ud600, disentangle, support libraries, buy used, and gradually start packing your digital bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s take our stuff and go. What is amazing, is when we take our stuff and go, we support the people around us and create interdependence, not dependence<\/strong>. In doing this, we make these platforms fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So start the journey of disentangling<\/strong>. It’s going to be a process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
