Remember that you are not voting for liberation in this election right now, that is not how liberation is reached. No matter your vote or non vote, it is not liberation. Liberation will not happen through Empire’s systems. You are voting or not voting within a system created to oppress, no matter what. We may want to vote as if we aren’t in the system using the system’s tools. But the thing is, we are still very much in the system. We cannot pretend we are outside of it already. We simply aren’t. Not yet.
When we pick up our devices created through exploitation, abuse, and death, to get on this platform, that is not liberation. What we are doing is learning how we can do our best in this system we are in with the tools we have available to us right now.
That is what strategizing under Empire can sometimes look like. It can be calculating, brutal, and factoring. It is at times weighing using tools of exploitation like our phones or voting to achieve a longer term goal.
We are voting with our hearts, with our heads, with what we can live with, and with what will also help the most people live.
In a liberated world, all of these would easily align. In a liberated world, our vote would not determine who lives.
We are not yet in a liberated world, which is why everyone is tearing each other apart. When the world itself is being torn apart, how do we not tear ourselves apart.
And this is where we find guidance in the threads of strategy. Long-term strategy is made up of threads that organizers have been weaving for years, creating a braid that is intertwined with multiple paths, multiple considerations, and multiple intersections. It may seem complex and elusive, but when you zoom out you understand that it is a map with the strongest possible gathering.
Find the braid. Gather with others. Weave your own threads into and with each other.
We are fighting genocides, fascism,
cis supremacy, capitalism, ableism, cop cities, and endless oppressive systems.
I do not believe those of you here are for any of those systems. But I do know that we must weave together or we will unravel ourselves.
Study, join, and organize. It is the only way to find the braid. Trust me when I say there is a strong and clear strategy. That is how I have become so unwavering in my fight for liberation. Find the braid and weave beloveds.
