I can always note how extreme anti-Asian racism, specifically, Sinophobia is by how casual, anticipatory, and reactive it is.
People cannot wait to release their anti-Asian racism.
They can’t wait.
I could talk about something oppressive happening in the US, and the first response out of people’s mouths is, “Doesn’t that happen in China, too?”
Nowhere in there did I mention China at all. But there it is, the Sinophobia overflowing, at ready, already in your minds.
People wear their violent racism against Asians on their sleeves and do not hesitate to show and express it at every possible opportunity.
It is neither subtle nor harmless nor is it isolated to the conservative right.
The insidious work of bias is deeply and widely planted.
Notice it everywhere because it is everywhere.
Do not let it go unnamed.
Do not let it go unaddressed.
Do not let it spread and multiply.
Do not let it poison everything it touches, including you.
Never just observe racism.
Always uproot it too.
