“Self-Deport” and “Baby Bonus” Come From the Same Place

Who Stays

This administration is coming up with ways to increase the birthrate in Empire. They are listing ideas such as a “baby bonus” of $5000 to the mother after a baby is born, blocking off 30% of Fulbright scholarships for applicants who are married or have children, and even a “National Medal of Motherhood” for women who have 6 or more children.

Who Goes

At the very same time, this regime is also violently deporting people, including many who are children in families, or parents who have children. They are also working on banning and limiting people traveling to the U.S. from over 40 countries, many of whom come to be with their families.

Also, still, the maternal mortality rate for Black women is estimated to be 3.5 times that of white women. It has been several times higher for decades, and yet this has gone unaddressed.

Also, still, what of the young trans people who want to be their full selves and hope that the adults can get it together to honor the infiniteness of gender.

Also, still, what of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Relatives?

What about all the children, parents, and families who could be found, supported, and cherished that are already here?

The Test

Eugenics. Whether you are rewarded or punished, whether you stay or go, whether you are supported or not, is based on whether you meet the criteria of the racist ableist eugenics of white dominance.

There is no façade, no gesturing, no pretense. It is exactly what it appears to be.
