Oppressors Creating Oppression: US Military Out of Korea

Whenever I talk about how the US military needs to get out of South Korea, there’s always a white person who says, “Oh well, you know, the US military is protecting South Korea from North Korea.” Here’s the thing though, the US government and military are the ones who created the division of North and South Korea in the first place at the 38th parallel.

That’s like when men tell women, “Oh, you know, a woman needs a man to protect her because the world is really messed up, sexist, and unequal.” You know what? Men created that inequality and sexism and patriarchy in the first place.

Or when primarily white orgs and institutions say, “We are being generous by having affirmative action and hiring clauses so we can hire more BIPOC.” Meanwhile, the whole reason why the org or institution is mostly white in first place is because white people created white supremacy and white dominance.

Or it’s like how the US is trying to build a wall around borders. The borders were created by colonizers. You’re the reason those borders are there.

When you create the problem, you’re the reason for the problem. And you’re the reason there’s a dependency on you to continue creating that problem. That’s how white dominance works, that’s how capitalism works.

White supremacy and capitalism are always doing the most when it comes to denial. The MOST.

US military out of Korea. Men work on the problem of patriarchy that you created. And white people, work on the problem of white supremacy and dominance that you created.

Wean yourself off of the power trip of oppression.
