How the U.S. Set Up Permission for Japan to Invade Korea

More facts about Korean history that you didn’t learn in school. In 1905, Japan and the US entered an agreement that would set the foundation for Japan to be able to, with permission, invade, colonize and occupy Korea.

William Howard Taft, the US Secretary of War, and Katsura Taro, Japan’s Prime Minister, essentially agreed that the US could keep dominion over the Philippines if Japan could oversee Korea.

That was in 1905. Japan’s colonization of Korea happened between 1910 and 1945. So you can see very clearly how the building blocks for the colonization happened because of the meddling of the US.

Japan was able to colonize Asia because it had the help of imperialist countries like the United States and Great Britain. It wasn’t just Europe that was colonizing the world, it was also the United States.
