안녕. Your friendly neighborhood digital security expert here. So we talked about the camera and photos. Remember though, other apps use your location and data as well.
For example, when you want your maps to know where you are in relation to where you’re going, or ride-sharing apps to pinpoint exactly where you are. When you want weather apps to know where you are, or maybe you also appreciate that your calendar knows which time zone you’re in.
These are some of the conveniences of technology and connectivity, but they’re also simultaneously some of the sacrifices we make to our privacy and data. And how many apps do you have on your device? A ton, right? Each of those can be a portal to your data.
If you want to continue using these devices, you have to remember that you will be sharing data. We can try to mitigate some of the data being harvested, but we can’t completely stop it while using these devices.
So here’s what I want you to do. I want you to go through your device and do an audit of all the apps that are sharing location data. Here are a couple examples of how to do that on different devices.
iOS: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Go thru each app Android: Swipe down from top > Touch and hold Location > App location permissions > Look thru each category
Some apps need your location like maps and ride sharing. Others need it sometimes, and others need it never.
More tips to come.
