Digital Security: End-to-End Encryption

One of the reasons why security and privacy, particularly with regard to our digital lives, are so critical is because oppressors use breaches of privacy and surveillance as weapons.

Let’s talk about security in messaging platforms. First things first, no messaging app is completely secure. They’re just more secure, or less secure.

Also, the messaging platform itself is only one part of the equation, you’re another part of it. So no matter how secure a platform might be, we as humans might be a weak point.

A feature you want to look for is end-to-end encryption. The ontent is encrypted on the device or system of the sender, and only the intended recipient can decrypt it.

Anyone in the middle like a hacker, intermediary, internet service provider, third party, shouldn’t be able to decrypt it.

But always remember nothing is unhackable. That means everything is hackable.

Even if the message from the sender to the receiver is encrypted, that doesn’t mean that a. hacker can’t get to you on the receiver end or the sender end itself.

As mentioned earlier, we can only be more secure or less secure. We can’t be completely secure. But end-to-end encryption is definitely more secure and better with it than without.

More soon.
