The doctor took a look at baby you and made an approximation, guess, and decision about your sex on your behalf without you, and now you still, by chance, conform to that decision.

Chance conformity is what it means to be cis in current dominant culture.

It’s wild when you really think
about it.

As long as trans and gender bending folks are othered, as we are today, cis privilege exists.

And cis people misusing “natural,” “bio,” “genetic,” “normal,” and “real,” doesn’t make you not cis.

You’re still cis with cis privilege in a cis-centric world.

I’m fighting for a different world and hope you are as well.

Because the cis binary that colonization created, limits all of us.

We can have so many more different words, ways, and expressions again when trans and gender bending people, particularly trans People of the Global Majority, are allowed to simply exist.

I believe we can and will get there.
