An Election is Not an End

Remember that what comes after voting is more important than voting itself. No matter how you vote (keeping in mind local and ballot measures at stake) or if you vote, our work is continuing to build power and community.

We need to get to a place where people understand that voting is a small part of a long-term strategy. Many are mistaking voting as the strategy itself. This is deleterious thinking.

An election is not an end, it is not even the most important part.

So then, all of us want an end to the genocides, fighting with one another about our votes. What a perfect trap created for us.

When we get to a place where everyone is thinking beyond elections for systemic change, is when we disrupt the systems. Getting to where we understand the strategy beyond for liberation for all, that is where we want to be.

I will vote, and I will use my iPhone to make this post on this oppressive social platform, too. AND ALSO, I’m continuing to organize to take down Empire every single day so that people don’t have to ever be put in this position again.

This colonial system we are in convinced people that being “political” only pertains to how you vote, when in fact, everything is political all the time.

The phone you use, the food you eat, the air you breathe. All of it is political.

Liberation means being aware of our politicized world all the time, our politicized selves all the time. Each of us is politics itself. You are politics itself.

One thing about being in the Imperial Core is that we get to shred and destabilize it from the inside while the Global South shines so bright that we do not get lost on our way out.

That is powerful. You are powerful.

We are more powerful together.

WE ARE THE WAVES. 🌊🌊🌊
