LA Fires Go Bag

Everyone in LA County (and everyone in general really) should have a Go Bag ready already.

I have been giving workshops on Prep/Go Bags for various scenarios in different regions for years and will do an extensive series on this after we emerge from this.

In the meantime, here is a list of the most slimmed down version, the very very BASICS for the LA fires right now.

In all of these please keep in mind specifics for the elderly, injured, disabled folks, pregnant people, children/babies, and animals:

Identification cards and legal certificates

Phone, chargers, backup battery pack

Backup your devices on the cloud or portable drive

Keys (car, house, etc. even if everything may be destroyed)

Medications, prescriptions

Wallet, cash, and credit cards

Simple food/water for 3 days. Many places in the area are providing food and meal support so if you can get to one of these locations, even better.

Strong closed-toe shoes

3 days of clothing in layers (includes socks, underwear, sleeping outfit, hat)

BASIC toiletries, do not over pack here (toothbrush/paste, soap, etc.)

If you wear and have, an extra pair of glasses. Glasses over contacts if you are able.

PPE (quality masks, sanitizer, goggles, etc.).

First Aid Kit

Pens and paper

Physical maps with your route mapped out in different paths

Flashlight with batteries (phone flash is good too)

Menstruation supplies (whether you menstruate or not)

Videos/Photos of your home for insurance or posterity

This is a pared-down version for LA right now. Not everyone will be able to grab or will have everything. That’s okay. Just bring what you can.

I will make a comprehensive series when we emerge together. Protection to all.
