The Broligarchs Don’t Quite Understand IP

One billionaire tweeted, “Delete all IP law.”

Then another billionaire tweeted back, “I agree.”

This is not surprising. This is essentially a call for digital colonization. What is behind this call for billionaires currently, as well as Big Tech in general, is AI.

Big Tech and billionaires are trying to devise ways to freely take everyone’s data, creations, and privacy without restriction, how they can use our voice to create AI voices and recognition, how they can take our likeness and biometrics, our books, writing, drawings, illustrations, photos, videos, performances, and the creations of artists everywhere.

They are calculating how they can take our work, digital identity, and eventually with all of that, take even the representation of us ourselves. They want this all without conversation, consent, or compensation.

In a different system, say, not under ableist racial capitalism, there could be a collective ownership model, a classless, collective society where everyone shares. That is absolutely possible, instead of what we have now.

But those billionaires are certainly not talking about that vision. No, they are talking about racist, eugenic-based capitalist colonialism. They’re talking about theft.

If billionaires and Big Tech truly wanted to “delete all IP law,” that would entail them surrendering every product and idea that has ever brought them profit. Everything that they’ve “made” is not theirs, but instead stolen through the labor, exploitation, and enslavement of millions. They rob working class people and the land every single moment of every single day.

They are thieves.

As long as we’re living under racist ableist capitalist colonialism, we need all of those measures to protect ourselves at every turn, from their theft.
