My first relationship was with someone who spent an inordinate amount of time in her anthropology lab and researching in front of her computer. This was before laptops were accessible to the layperson and portability was not an option. So she had to sit in front of her desk for hours, working on her PhD thesis and research.
She was an avid science fiction/fantasy reader and often told me lengthy stories about what she had read and the dis/utopias within. Now that I think about it, it makes complete sense that she would be interested in science fiction from an anthropological perspective.
Going along with releasing an object linked to a past relationship and releasing a small item, today I came across a small action figurine. I’m not sure why I have it, but I do know it sat on her computer while she was working. It’s some kind of woman warrior character. I think I may have given her a couple of these figurines and somehow managed to keep one for myself. I have it because I forgot about it. It’s so tiny, yet similar to yesterday’s object, it carries years of significance.
On day 335 of my 365 Release practice for non-attachment, I am finding letting go to be simple and swift.
[I created the 365 Release Project to practice non-attachment, letting go and change by giving away 1 thing a day for 1 year. The background, vision and guidelines to the 365 RELEASE project are here. The running list of everything I have released is here.]
